Dorsey Discount Services (DDS) was founded by Michael Stern in 1985 as the original dental and medical membership service in Texas. Today DDS has saved over 250,000 people tens of millions of dollars in dental and medical expenses. A recognized authority on dental plans, Mr. Stern served in 1994 on an Advisory Committee for the Texas Commissioner of Insurance regarding the Dental HMO industry.
After 15 years in the industry, Mr. Stern recognized a growing problem in health care in the United States. He found that many of his customers had no health insurance and were looking for answers. He also recognized that even those who had health insurance simply could not afford to get sick. After years of research Mr. Stern recognized that the real solution to the health care crisis is simple, ‘Stay Healthy!. He became passionate about solving the healthcare crisis. With the assistance of his long time friends’ Dr. Otis Henisey, Mr. Oscar Hines, and a vast network of strategic partners he developed, over a 6 year period, he founded what has become the Wellness Shield Corporation, the first company dedicated to true wellness and prevention.
